I'm never going to the optomitrist again.

What the heck?? I entered my optometrists office a middle aged person and came out 45 minutes later ELDERLY?! I knew my eyes had changed this year so I was not surprised when Dr. J kindly pointed out that it is time for bifocals. FINE...I have heard the horror stories from newly bifocaled friends about raising their foot 3 feet trying to get up on a curb that suddenly appears much higher than it used to be or completely missing a step that they have navigated without incident for the last 10 years. I also knew there have been improvements made with bifocals over the past few years with no lines and being more user friendly. Can't say I was exactly thrilled to hear that I need bifocals but I wasn't completely surprised and figured I should count my blessings as I didn't need any type of glasses until I was 40. Basically I told myself to suck it up Buttercup you are getting older and you need bifocals, big whoop. Well, just as I am picking up my purse and trying to decide if I want cherry amaretto ice cream or pumpkin spice ice cream (as my reward for being good...DUH) Dr J says, "We won't worry about surgery until your exam next year unless you notice a change in your vision." Excuse me? Surgery? ME? I'm having surgery? Apparently the look on my face made it very clear I had nooo idea what she was talking about. Well folks, I have cataracts. Everything on my body is falling into my shoes, turning black or doesn't work anymore so why would I expect my eyes to be any different?? Geesh...I'm going back to the dentist next week and cannot wait to hear what good news he has to share. They don't make false teeth out of wood anymore...do they??

I had a tooth pulled when I was 26 and decided that I was not going to do that again one by one. I told the dentist to schedule me to have them all ecytracted. He said all of teh remainning 30 are okay but he did it. I ahve nopt been sorry. My dneyures are not wooden. Then came the cataract removal. we did the left eye fuirst hoping to strengthen my lazy eye first. Then did my good eye. It was great and then they told me I had a film over my eyes about a year later and they lazered them off. You dread it now but you will be glad you did

So glad to see you again. Loved your post- I went through the same thing many years ago. Now I am at a point, either see up close or far away. Not both. Since I do computer stuff all the time, I chose close up, now I have trouble seeing the caller ID on the tv. I even have days when I go back and use old glasses. Duh....

I'm 47, ugh.. ageing!
Got my first gray hair about the age of 35. My younger son, about age 14 at the time, found it while he was sitting in back of me in the car. He just had laugh about it yank it..lol Even now I don't have alot of grays, so I'm hoping to be like my mom in that department.. she's 70 and still has some
natural dark hair!
Okay.. so I didn't care much for that. My most hated thing about ageing? The BI-FOCALS that I should've had a few years ago, but willingly postponed till nearly two years ago. As though glasses for nearsightedness and bad astigmatism wasn't bad enough, but now those things?? UGH! Oh.. and yes, a few of those chin hairs get plucked as soon as they start to get long enough!! Dark hair shows up too well on the face.. including upper lip that. Think it's more genetic for me since I have maternal aunts who have the same 'problems' with the hair! (I don't have any paternal aunts to compare to.) I don't think my own mother suffers as much as I do with these hairs! lol
